This week the children have made pancakes as we have been learning about Lent and how this is a special time to prepare for Easter. 

Today we explored how to separate materials from a mixture.

We looked at different methods including: filtering, sieving and magnets.

We then used each method to separate a mixture of sand, pebbles and pins.

Year 1-Maths-Whole Part Model

We have been learning about whole part models in Maths today. The children used tens frames and counters to show how to work out the answer. 

Year 1 Science-Animals 

We have been sorting pictures of plants and animals this afternoon. The children have been talking about the features of an animal and designed their own animal. 

To begin our topic of time we all came together in the hall and we made a number line from 0 to 12 which we then transferred into a circular number line to represent a clock face. We added on the minutes numbers around the outside and talked about the purpose of the hands. We recapped over Year 1…

We may have only just returned to school after the half term break but the children are already excited for Easter!  They have created an Easter house using the magnetic tiles.  Lots of lovely language and cooperative play.

Our classes found a suitcase with lots of items inside all related to our new book!!  The children were really excited to explore what had been left for them and to see their new book.  The Journey Home by Emma Levey

Today we have enjoyed creating some valentines crafts for our families.

We had lots of fun on our pyjama day raising money for our school.

The children have had lots of fun coming to nursery in their favourite pyjamas. 

The children have been learning about Chinese New Year and looking at images and clips of the parade in Liverpool. Some children also created Chinese numbers up to 5 using different coloured paints.
