Investigating area and perimeter
In maths today, the children were investigating area and perimeter in compound shapes. We explored different ways to calculate the two measurements whilst also looking at ways to solve missing lengths in shapes.
World Book Day 2026
This morning in Year 6, after having our ‘Breakfast with a Book’ time, the children took part in Book Speed Dating.

Year 6 Sports Hall Athletics
Well done to the Year 6 children who took part in the South Sefton Sportshall Athletics event this week. They demonstrated excellent team work and gave 100% in all the track and field events.
Pumpkin Estimation Station
This week, the children have been estimating the mass of pumpkins.
They were given the weight of a medium sized pumpkin as a point of reference.
Sumer Gynastics
This half term, Year 6 have been having gymnastics lessons led by Beth Tweddle. Today, we worked on our group routines and then finished the session building pyramids.
Year 6 Sketching Unit
This afternoon, the children started their first lesson in our new art unit. We will be looking at drawing self-portraits but today we focussed on during small details - using images of fruit.
Higher or Lower - Comparing Large Numbers
Today we looked at comparing large numbers whilst playing the game ‘Higher or Lower’. The children read different numbers before deciding if the next number would be higher or lower.
