Our Goal
At English Martyrs, our computing curriculum aims to foster enjoyment and appreciation of technology. We want students to explore, manage, organize, and collaborate using technology confidently. Our goal is for pupils to become digitally competent, responsible citizens, equipped with transferable skills for the future workplace.
Our curriculum, based on the Kapow scheme, helps pupils meet the National Curriculum targets. We teach appropriate online behavior, copyright issues, critical evaluation of online information, and healthy technology use.
How we teach Computing
Our computing curriculum is built around three main strands:
-
Computer Science
-
Information Technology
-
Digital Literacy
Skills are taught progressively from year to year, ensuring that by the end of each key stage, students meet attainment targets. The curriculum covers five key areas:
- Computer systems and networks
- Programming
- Creating media
- Data handling
- Online safety

Our computing curriculum aims to ensure that children:
- Are critical thinkers and make informed digital choices.
- Meet the National Curriculum expectations for computing.
