We have been taking part in weekly Mindful Movement sessions with @activesefton. The children have loved trying out the poses and listening to their breath and importantly trying to be still and present. 

This week, we welcomed Leon Pietrzak to talk to the children in KS2 about careers in the NHS.

After a full school assembly, Leon delivered workshops with each year group. These workshops explored the different roles that are available and provided some incredible facts about the NHS.

The children explored applying the forces of squashing, bending, twisting and stretching to a range of materials and they recorded their results in a table.

The children in Lego and k’nex club are becoming more creative each week.  We’ve had so many different designs and the children have been working brilliantly together.  Today some of the children chose to make marble runs using the Lego baseboards.

Year 1- RED 

We listened to the story about Jesus blessing the little children. We talked about why we are special to our families, friends and community. 

This week we are learning about our different senses and how our senses help us to explore the world around us. Today the children used their sense of smell to guess what was in the container. They were able to describe the different smells using words such as sweet, strong, nice. 

As part of our maths work this week, the children have been finding and making pairs! The children have been recognising that a pair is two. 

The children have been using natural resources, lemons and limes as part of their sensory outdoor learning today.  Smelling, mixing, whisking, pouring, creating, communicating, turn-taking - playing is learning!  

Our dream cave has turned into a friendship card making station! The children are creating their own friendship cards to give to their friends, it is a great way to show our care and love for one another. The children are using name cards to support their writing of their friend’s…

Year 1 Comparing Numbers to 20

We have been comparing numbers to 20 in pairs this morning. “Which number is less or greater than”

We have enjoyed learning about Lunar New Year and how it is celebrated.  We learned that it is now the Year of the Snake and find out about the celebrations that take place in Liverpool for Lunar New Year and how it is celebrated in countries such as China, using our globe to locate it.  Here we…
