Year 1-Nibbles 

In partners we have been talking about how the characters in Goldilocks and The Three Bears felt using the word ‘and.’ 

“Goldilocks is sad and shocked.”

”Daddy Bear is angry and upset.”

Year 1- Maths fact families 

We have been learning about fact families in maths this morning. We have used double sided counters and tens frames to help us work out our addition facts. In pairs we have recorded our answer on a whiteboard. 

Year 1- Science-Mammals and Birds 

We have been learning about different types of animals including mammals and birds. We sorted the animals into the different types and talked about the features of each one. 

Year 1 Science- What are the parts of a plant?

We have been learning about the different parts of a plant. The children played a number matching game to help label the different parts of a plant. We talked about the flower, leaf, stem and root.

Year 1 Maths- count backwards from 10

We have been learning to count backwards from 10 using multiple-links. 

Year 1- Science Day and Night 

We have been learning about day and night. We talked about how the Earth rotates. When the sun shines on Earth it is called the day time. When the Earth turns away from the sun it gets dark. It is called the night time. 

Year 1 Representing Objects 

We have been learning to represent objects using counters and tens frames. Well done Year 1!

Year 1 Art & Design 

We have been learning about Inukshuks in year 1. An inukshuk is made of stones or boulders placed on top of one another to create a figure, usually for the purpose of communicating with others to help in navigation and hunting. They are an important part of Inuit culture.…

Year 1 Gymnastics 

Today the children have been learning to do handstands, headstands, different shapes and rolls. We had a fantastic PE lesson learning lots of new skills. 

Year 1 Design Technology 

The children enjoyed learning how to thread a needle in design technology today. They used binca to practise a running stitch. 

Year 1 Our Jubilee Pledge

We have been talking about our Jubilee Pledge in Year 1. We have decided that we will be thinking carefully about the difference between wants and needs.

Do we really need another toy? Do we really need more clothes? Do we really want more sweets? 

The children have enjoyed doing gymnastics in PE this week. We have been very lucky to have coaches from Beth Tweedle teaching the children various skills. They have been learning to use the springboard, different types of rolls and balancing on the benches. Well done Year 1!
